Butterfly Pea Iced Tea

Serves- 1
Ingredients
- Butterfly pea flower- 1 teaspoon
- Sugar- 1 tablespoon(or to taste)
- Boiling water- 1/2 cup
- Cold water- 1/2 cup
- Basil- 2 leaves
- Ginger(optional)- 1/4 teaspoon
- Lemon or orange juice (to taste) – optional but magical ✨
- Ice
Directions
- Boil 1/2 a cup of water.
- Add the butterfly pea flower, basil, and ginger (you can put it in the water loose, or you can put it in a tea strainer).
- Let it steep until the tea is dark blue (5-7 minutes).
- Add the sugar and stir it until it dissolves.
- Let the tea cool down.
- In a serving glass add ice, cold water, and the tea.
- Slowly pour in the lemon or orange juice. Watch as the tea purple—it’s magical!
- You can stir it in, but the slow color change is part of the fun.
- Enjoy!
Notes
- You can replace the basil leaves with mint if you prefer it.
- The citrus juice not only changes its colour, it also adds a fresher flavour.
